BIOGRAPHY

It was in 2018 that Joff and the Cults first started practicing in an old building that many suspected belonged to a cult. This wasn’t the beginning of their story, but it was a defining moment which inspired the name. It was there that they brought to life the stories and music written by electric guitarist and vocalist Joff, a well-travelled artist and musician with gritty vocals and life stories to match. Together with the drums and bass duo of filmmaker brothers, Tom and James Collins, the band started evolving their sound. The trio all shared a love for storytelling, film, and old dusty things, all of which inspired their music. In this creative outlet, the band explored a theme that is central to its identity…

Dark stories disguised in beautiful melodies.

This is the cornerstone that Joff and the Cults have been building on since 2020 when they released their first EP, 'Lullabies'. Now, four years later, the band has reinvented itself as a streamlined trio and expanded its repertoire with ‘Cobblestone Road,’ a soon to be released six-track EP.

In early discussions about where these songs needed to go, the band gravitated towards what producer André Leo said he felt when listening to the recordings, “It's dark and lit by lamps.” This resonated with the band, and the path forward was clear. 'Cobblestone Road' was recorded in November 2023, a sign of good things to come.
